PEAKY BLINDERS season 6 has been put on hold. But what has Cillian Murphy teased about new series?
Peaky Blinders fans were delighted when director Anthony Byrne hosted an Instagram Q&A recently to mark the release of season five on Netflix. The director shared some updates from season five, as well as a message from Cillian Murphy – here’s what he had to say.
Is Tommy Shelby in danger from a new enemy?
As fans of the show will know, Peaky Blinders season six has been put on hold indefinitely.
This followed the filming shutdown after coronavirus COVID-19 became a pandemic across the world.
However, this has not stopped the creators and stars of the show dropping some hints about what is to come.
There was plenty of this in a director Byrne’s recent Instagram Live on the official Peaky Blinders account.
The Q&A was done in order to celebrate the launch of season five of the show on UK Netflix.
During the session, the director also revealed a message from Tommy Shelby star Cillian Murphy who gave fans an update about the new outing.
He said: “Sending love and fortitude to Peaky fans everywhere.
“We will be back as soon as we can, I promise, causing chaos and knocking heads as usual.
“I want to send a special thank you to all our widely talented crew for all their hard work and their talent, for their forbearance and patience during this time.
“So I dunno about you guys but sometimes I wonder what Tommy Shelby would be doing in a quarantine?
“I really hope he would be busy writing volume one of his memoirs – ‘Tommy Shelby – The Pre-War Years,’ that’s something I’d like to read.
“And I think by now he is definitely cutting his own hair with his hat while smoking a cigarette.”
While it was great to hear from the star himself, one part stood out to fans as Murphy teased there would be “chaos and knocking heads” to come.
So could this mean his beloved character might be in danger in the new series?
